# Gyre

> A radial app switcher for macOS. Hold a modifier key (Option by default) and every running app appears in a ring around your cursor; flick toward one or use the arrow keys, and release to switch. Switching happens at your cursor — no trip to the Dock or the middle of the screen.

Gyre is a native macOS app built with Swift. It switches between apps and, at the window level, between an app's individual windows (left/right arrows pick an exact window; optional live previews show real window content and need the Screen Recording permission). The ring is ordered by most-recently-used with a stable 12 o'clock anchor, and optional letter and number shortcuts turn well-used slots into a keyboard map. The center of the ring is a hub: drag an app card in to quit it, drag a file in to send it by AirDrop, or hold to send it to the Trash. The interface ships in 11 languages. It runs entirely locally: the only network request the app ever makes is the license check. No telemetry, no analytics, no account. Gyre is source-available under a custom license, and is an independent reimplementation of the Orbit concept by Yuze Pan.

## Privacy Notes

Switching, previews, and hub actions all happen on your Mac. Gyre makes exactly one network request of its own: the license check, which sends the license key and a per-install instance id to the license proxy (a small Worker) that forwards it to Dodo Payments, the payment and licensing provider. Purchases, emails, and refunds are handled by Dodo Payments as merchant of record. The app has no built-in updater and no analytics of any kind.
